WHITE ITALIAN DINNER PARTY

Saturday, June 28th

Liz and I were invited to an Italian White Dinner by our Italian friend Flavia. We were told to wear all white and to bring food that was also white. I had never been to anything like it! I was so excited!

There were hundreds of people setting up tables at a park in Sacile when we arrived around 8. We located Flavia after about 15 minutes. The table was almost complete! Flavia ran back to her place to put on her white clothes.

Not long after Flavia left, it started to rain! A few people came prepared with tents. We were not one of the fortunate ones. Liz and I tried to cover the table with trash bags and anything we could find.

We couldn't do much else except wait it out...

It started to rain pretty hard!

This couple next to us really thought ahead! They seemed stress-free while everyone else panicked as their beautiful tables got drenched.

Some folks made make-shift covers as it started to rain! Haha!

It finally stopped and everyone went back to work getting their tables prepared for the feast!

Flavia and some of her other friends arrived with all kinds of fun treats!

This is Flavia's friend Laura with another friends 9-month old son. He looks like he's 3 in this photo! He's so long!

Flavia ran the show. She made sure everyone was wearing a white ribbon around their wrist.

Liz and I quickly realized that we didn't need to bring white food. Everything else was white except the FOOD! We were so embarrassed! I'd brought marshmallows and white, hard candy. Liz brought cauliflower and hummus. Haha! We got to enjoy some delicious quiche, pizza, and rice. Flavia's friends sure know how to cook!

The woman sitting to the left of me worked at a little cafe around the corner from us. She went over and picked up Henley so Liz could eat. So thoughtful!

I tested out my new camera with some of the night settings.

The man to the right of me at dinner spoke English. He and his wife Laura were so sweet.

And of course it started to rain again!

We all got our umbrellas out!

That didn't stop anyone from lighting some paper lanterns!

It was actually pretty comical to watch because several people couldn't get their lanterns to float away. They would toss them up and they would come back down. It really took a team effort!

I came back and took a few pics of our group. This was one of the better ones because the others had a lot of shadows. This picture was taken moments before it started to POUR! We all dashed under our neighbors tent. The dinner at that point was over.
We had such a fun time getting to know Flavia's friends better and experiencing our first white dinner party in Italy no less!

Ciao Ciao!
